In 2018, Comstock Public Schools' administration decided to close down the high school library. The space was repurposed as as computer lab and general meeting space. In 2024, the administration decided to reopen the library. They hired a single person to achieve this: Me.
I devoted 35 hours a week for the next nine months to rebuilding a school library from scratch - beginning with an empty room and over 200 dusty boxes of books - while also maintaining a full-time freelance writing schedule. I'm just that good.
Key Accomplishments in Year 1
Assembled over 2,000 linear feet of perimeter shelving
Coordinated the delivery of over 200 boxes of books from storage
Organized, assembled, and set up temporary furniture for faculty/staff/student use while permanent fixtures were on backorder
Unpacked, assessed, organized, shelved, and inventoried over 10,000 books
Weeded over 7,000 books as outdated and/or irreparably damaged; researched and identified a suitable recycler for them
Surveyed students and staff to gauge interest and need for library materials and programming
Created and implemented acquisition guidelines for high school library titles
Researched and ordered over 500 new books for the library, collaborating with multiple book vendors and non-profits to do so
Processed and cataloged over 500 new books and 50 new board games
Applied for six grants for books and supplies; was awarded three grants, with two pending as of 2025.04.09. Identified additional grants for application in the 2025-2026 school year
Supervised students in the library daily, assisting with research and book selections
Planned and ran several literacy events for students, including a "book speed dating" event, book talks, and two library escape room events
Ran the front desk, handling checkin/checkout, overdues, repairs, shelving, and other front-line library tasks
Supervised three separate furniture deliveries, setting up completed furniture in compliance with ADA physical space accessibility standards

Collected data and planned budget for 2025-2026 school year
Maintained weekly communication with the district's media outreach team; wrote weekly articles about the library's progress
Started ongoing group communications for district library staff, allowing us to coordinate efforts and share information in accordance with the district's educational mission
I began writing for clients in 2009. Today, I construct cutting-edge conversations for some of the US's top SaaS companies and law firms. I love finding the topics no one else is covering - and being the first to connect the dots.
I have seven years of agency experience and over ten years of freelance and contract team experience. For samples of my work, see my portfolio.
I also research and publish on the role of communication in identity construction. For a list of my academic publications, see the "Publications" section, below.
Key Accomplishments
Through effective SEO practices, I have placed over two dozen law firms on Page 1 of Google Search for their target practice areas and geographic locations and helped them maintain that ranking.
My white papers, marketing materials, and slide decks helped four different SaaS startups obtain multiple rounds of funding from 2017 to 2020. One of the four reached unicorn status thanks in part to a cutting-edge white paper I wrote analyzing corporate "bias training" through the lens of social-emotional learning - a connection no one in business or education had yet published.
In 2018-2019, I wrote a series of articles for an insurtech company that increased website traffic by 430% over eighteen months.
In 2022-2023, I wrote series of articles and white papers that helped two pharmaceutical research SaaS companies become thought leaders in clinical trial practice.
I fully managed client SEO and conducted comprehensive keyword research for a dozen clients, managing over 300 terms and optimizing content for diverse audience segments.
Between 2012 and the present, I have improved SEO strategies for over 30 businesses, ranging from $1.3 million to over $1 billion in revenue, increasing their conversion rates by a minimum of 60 percent.
In 2025, I increased my drafting speed by 30% through implementation of an extensible text editor with flexible keyboard shortcuts.
I manage 8-10 clients' workloads simultaneously, successfully meeting or beating 10 to 20 deadlines each week, while turning in a total volume of approximately 10,000 words per week. I have a 99% lifetime client satisfaction rate.
During the 2024-2025 school year, I did all this while also restarting a local high school library from scratch and learning Web design. I'm just that good.
In 2024, I began offering limited web design services for select clients.
Key Accomplishments
Revamped a local agricultural hauling business's Web site from a single page of static HTML to a lightweight yet effective site, resulting in a 125% increase in traffic in the first nine months.
Increased a fellow freelance writer client's monthly and organic traffic from zero to over 2,000 visits per month within two months.
Developed digital marketing strategies that resulted in 20-50% increases in online engagement for clients.
Designed and organized content to create a new webpage for a school district library, leading to increased engagement from parents and students in the district.
Completed a large-scale digital migration project within two months, two weeks ahead of anticipated deadline.
Since 2009, I have founded or co-founded multiple successful businesses. These include my freelance writing and consulting business (2009), a healthcare administration and management consulting business (2009), and a worker-owned publishing company (2015). All three are still in operation today.
